About the Gary Staley Memorial Scholarship Fund

 

The Gary Staley Memorial Scholarship Fund was established after the in line of duty death of Porter Fire Department Firefighter Gary Staley on January 19, 2003. The individual extension of grants is intended to provide financial assistance for tuition. The classes approved for assistance are restricted to fire fighting, emergency response, supervision, emergency preparedness and EMS with fire academy training having the primary emphasis.

Individual contributions and an annual golf tournament are the primary sources of revenue to fund this continuing memorial.

More than $90,000 in grants have been issued totaling over course of the scholarship fund to 113 reciprients. A copy of the application can be obtained from this web site. Any questions should be directed to Don Staley @ 281.259.6003.
