History

Porter Fire Department was originally established in February 1962 as a volunteer department.

Montgomery County ESD # 6 (Porter Fire Department) is responsible for the coverage of 52 square miles. Porter Fire Department is located in South East Montgomery County on the Highway 59 corridor just on the outskirts of Houston, Texas. We are a rapidly growing community that currently has over 35,000 residents. Montgomery County ESD # 6 provides structural fire protection, basic rescue services, water rescue, wild land firefighting, fire prevention, and fire education services.

Our department has 3 stations and 19 apparatus. An additional Station is under construction currently and will replace the existing Station 122.

The department is on a 48/96 work schedule and has 3 shifts.

Porter Fire Department employs 56 Firefighters. Serving your community on each shift is the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Battalion Chief, 1 Captain, 3 Lieutenants, 4 Engineer Operators and 8-10 other Firefighters.
