Carter Johnson

Fire Chief

The Montgomery County Emergency Service District #6 Board of Commissioners confirmed Carter Johnson as the Fire Chief in August 2012.

Chief Johnson's fire service journey began as a volunteer Firefighter with the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department.  In 1997, he moved to the Porter Volunteer Fire Department. During his time as volunteer, Chief Johnson  served as a company officer and District Chief.  As the department transitioned from a volunteer department to a career department, so did Chief Johnson, serving as Assistant Chief.

Chief Johnson has earned an associate degree in Fire Protection Technology from the Lone Star College system and a Bachelor of Fire Service Administration from Texas A&M, San Antonio.  He is also a Certified Fire Executive (CFE) with the Texas Fire Chiefs Association.

Chief Johnson serves as the Deputy State Coordinator for the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutal Aid System (TIFMAS) and has been deployed for complex wildfires and hurricanes in Texas, California, Louisiana, and Florida.

Chief Johnson is married to his high school sweetheart, Suzy, and they have two boys.
